New Tunisian deputy speaker of the parliament causes uproar on Atlantis affiliation
New Tunisian MP who was elected deputy speaker, Saoussen Mabrouk, has caused indignation after revelations about her Kingdom of Atlantis affiliation.
Prominent Tunisian opposition leader, Abir Moussi, has revealed that new deputy speaker of the Tunisian parliament, Saoussen Mabrouk, is minister of social affairs in an international organization named “Kingdom of Atlantis.”
The accusation has sparked much controversy as Abir Moussi implied the new official is working for a global organization with suspicious agendas.
The deputy speaker denied the affiliation by alleging that a photoshopped picture of her has caused the uproar. She explained that the Tunisian flag in the authentic picture was removed and substituted with that of the Kingdom of Atlantis.
Tarek Kahlaoui, activist and radio commentator, alleged that the organization stands for a virtual kingdom that mobilizes affiliates in order to call for progressive change. He, however, blamed the new MP for lying when she rejected the allegations.
He added that he conducted research which showed she is member of this organization and that she should not have denied this membership.
Sofiane Ben Hmida, another commentator, stated that he fact-checked the MP’s LinkedIn account to find out that she did not obtain many of the certificates and diplomas she claims. He concluded that from her social media she seems to be keen on being visible at any cost.
Some pro-government activists rushed to defend the new deputy speaker of the Tunisian parliament while others said she should leave office so that her conduct does not tarnish the integrity of the Tunisian parliament.
